Dear Mie,
Welcome to CROWD TALKS!
A collective archive shared with the most fashionable CROWD people, we admire and find the greatest inspiration from. We are very pleased to have you joining us.
You have nearly 80K followers on your Instagram account, a flying career, juggling motherhood, managing your own business and all that in between. How do you do it?
“I’m at a time in my life where family comes first and career secondly. Everything in between can wait. I think this is my survival recipe right now”.
Working as the former Styling & Fashion Director at ELLE Denmark for 11 years, we simply need to know: What is your best styling advise? And do you have a “go-to-uniform” in your closet? Please share.
“My go-to-uniform is a white T-shirt, jeans and an oversize blazer. Shoes vary depending on the season, but I mostly wear flats. This is what I feel the most comfortable in, which I think is key to any look. I know it’s a cliché, but I truly believe that if you feel good, you look good. When that said I think it’s important to dress according to your shape. For instant, I always try to highlight my waist as I have an hourglass figure and don’t look good in oversize clothes from top to bottom. We all have our advantages; it’s about finding yours and embracing it. Also, my fashion mantra is - less is more!”.
Here’s a bit more philosophical one. Looking towards the evolution in the fashion industry, how do you believe we can incorporate a considerate sustainable and recycling mindset in our everyday wardrobe?
“I have this rule about donating or selling something before buying something new. This way my wardrobe doesn’t suddenly explode. Also, I believe in investing in quality instead of quantity. To me these are two easy mindsets to a more sustainable wardrobe”.
And finally, how do you disconnect and are you good at being present?
“I’m proud to say that I have created a life for myself where there is time to disconnect and be more present. I primarily work while my son is in daycare or sleeping. This means putting away my iPhone when I’m with him, which is by far my best tool to disconnect and being present. I also use walks in the fresh air to disconnect. And if I’m feeling anxious or stressed, I do breathing exercises. This always helps.
Thank you for sharing and being a great inspiration to us!
Sincerely,
CROWD CPH
